Cuddalore District Parangipettai Union Territory Tractor Drive and Rain Water Submerged Crops
BJP state president visited Annamalai
He got on the tractor, went down to the place where the crop had sunk, visited the paddy field and asked the farmers about it. The Tamil Nadu Chief Minister said that he was visiting the flood victims as he was in Stalin’s car and that the NLC’s CSR fund would be used to carry out diversionary operations.
This evening (Nov. 13), the BJP state president visited the flood-damaged farmlands in various villages in the Poovalai and Kurinjipadi areas of the Sathappadi and Parangipettai unions near Bhubaneswar in Cuddalore district and bought relief items for the people affected by the rains.
About 2,000 acres of arable land in Poovalai village were submerged due to continuous rains and floods in the district. Thus the farmers were affected.
BJP state president Annamalai visited the affected crops in the village. Arriving at this village by car, he got on a tractor and drove to a field about a kilometer away.
Annamalai then landed in the submerged areas of the field, visited the submerged paddy fields and asked the farmers about the damage. And what causes the damage? He also asked the farmers what should be done to avoid any damage. Then he drove the tractor a little further to Annamalai when he got back on the tractor.
He later told reporters that the floods in the Paravanaru river had submerged about 3,000 acres of arable land in the village. Farmers are thus affected.
Neyveli Coal Company’s CSR fund has already been used to clear the upper and middle reaches. But the bottom spread was not disturbed. The BJP will talk to the NLC and try to widen the river by clearing the lower reaches with CSR funds. Farmers in this area are increasingly borrowing crops.
It should be canceled. They have taken crop loans since 2016. Those loans must be canceled as well. Flood victims are usually seen standing on the side of the road.
But I have visited the place directly where the farmers were affected. The Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu is visiting the flood victims as he was in Stalin’s car.
The true situation is not known from such a view. He should definitely go to the affected areas next time and consult with the farmers. Hope he does.
He said he hoped the Tamil Nadu government would address the grievances of the farmers. Asked by reporters whether there would be an attempt to declare Cuddalore a disaster district, Annamalai said, “If the Tamil Nadu government recommends declaring it a disaster district, we will make efforts to do so.”
The total disbursement fund for the year 2020-2021 is 1360 crore rupees. The central government has given its share of 1020 crore. The state government has to pay Rs 25 crore as its 25 per cent stake. He said the central and state governments are being forced to increase funding. District Chairman K.P.D. Many BJP executives, including Ilancheriyan, were present.
