Alappuzha: Five people have been arrested in connection with the murder of BJP district leader and OBC Morcha state secretary Ranjith. The arrest of SDPI activists who were taken into custody last night was recorded. Asif, Nishad, Ali, Sudhir and Arshad were arrested. They were taken into custody from Mannancherry.
Police raided Alappuzha today, shocked by two political assassinations. Police raided 260 houses for murder suspects. A decision has been taken at a meeting of top police officials to continue the investigation. The search was carried out at the homes of RSS and SDPI activists.
Mannancherry panchayat member and SDPI leader Nawaz Naina has been taken into police custody. He is being questioned in connection with the assassination of BJP leader Ranjit. Meanwhile, the BJP and SDPI came out against the police at an all-party peace meeting here today.
The SDPI alleged that the police were summoning Vande Mataram and Jai Shriram. The leaders also accused the activists of unjustly detaining and brutally torturing them. Meanwhile, BJP president Gopakumar said that if the police were not able to nab the culprits in the murder of the BJP leader, they would tell the Center. The BJP leader also accused the district administration of showing disrespect to Ranjit’s body.
