Chennai – A protest held on behalf of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) took place in Valluvar constituency, Chennai, demanding the resignation of Minister Shekhar Babu. The demonstration saw the attendance of BJP state president Annamalai, who addressed the crowd and expressed strong views on various issues.

During his speech, Annamalai questioned whether he could contest the 2024 parliamentary elections alongside Sanathana. He further called for the Tamil Nadu government to vacate the charity department. The BJP state president also warned that individuals like Udayanidhi and A. Rasa would face similar circumstances to Senthil Balaji, suggesting that a change in government would bring about a change in the prevailing scenario.

Following the protest, Annamalai led a march of BJP supporters to lay siege to the office of the Hindu Religious Charities Department in Nungambakkam. As Annamalai and his supporters joined the demonstration, tension escalated throughout the area.

Authorities intervened to maintain order by prohibiting passage through Nungambakkam Park. In response, Annamalai and his volunteers staged a sit-in on the road, causing a massive traffic jam. After negotiations with the police, the protest was ultimately called off.

Subsequently, a case has been registered against 800 individuals, including BJP state president Annamalai, under four sections. The Nungambakkam police have reportedly charged the protesters with offenses such as illegal addition, improper obstruction, and public nuisance.

The protest reflects the growing discontent and demand for change among certain sections of the public in Chennai’s Valluvar constituency. As the BJP state president takes a firm stance against the Tamil Nadu government, tensions remain high, and the situation continues to unfold.
