The first assembly session of 2023 began on the 9th with Governor Ravi’s speech, and on the fourth day, a unanimous resolution was passed demanding the immediate implementation of the Sethu Samudra project by the central government.

Speaking at that time, Chief Minister Stalin said, “After the change of government at the Union level in 2004 and the DMK alliance came to power, Rs 247 crore was allocated and the project work was 50 percent completed, but the BJP blocked the project for political reasons. Former Chief Minister Jayalalithaa, who had supported the project from the beginning, suddenly changed her position. He filed a case against the project. If this project is implemented, the ports will develop. The Sethu Samudra project will be conducive to the development of Tamil Nadu,” he said.

Following this, BJP MLA Nayanar spoke Nagendran said, “Nobody will be happier than us if this project comes up. If the project is implemented without harming the Ram Path, the BJP will support it,” he said.
