Karthik Gopinath has been arrested on a Rs 50 lakh fraud charge. The BJP, including Annamalai and H. Raja, have condemned his arrest.
BJP supporter and UT activist Karthik Gopinath Avadi has been arrested by the Central Crime Branch police.
Karthik Gopinath has been involved in fundraising through the internet, claiming that he is going to rebuild the Madurakaliamman temple in Siruvachchur, Perambalur district, without the permission of the Tamil Nadu government’s Hindu temple department.
Avadi police have arrested Karthik Gopinath following a complaint by social activist Pius Manush that he had embezzled Rs 50 lakh in the name of God. According to the police, an investigation is underway against him.

Annamalai wrote on his Twitter account, “It is reprehensible that the DMK is making completely false allegations against Karthik Gopinath. Tamil Nadu BJP will support nationalist Karthik Gopinath. I have assured his father that he will be given the legal assistance he needs. ”

Similarly, senior BJP leader H Raja on his Twitter page strongly condemned the arrest of Karthik Gopinath. He has been criticized as an expression of the violence of the anti-Hindu state that threatens that no one should come forward to help if Hindus or Hindu temples are affected.
Karthik Gopinath has shared on Instagram the photos of Union Home Minister Amit Shah meeting him when he arrived in Chennai and congratulating Annamalai on his birthday.
The arrest of Karthik Gopinath has caused a stir among the BJP.
