Partha Chatterjee, who is the current Industries and Commerce Minister of West Bengal, was earlier the Education Minister. It was alleged that illegal appointments were made in government-run aided schools by the then State School Service Commission (WBSSC). Following this allegation, the Enforcement Directorate raided the house of Partha Chatterjee’s assistant Arpita Mukherjee in connection with the teacher recruitment scam. Then Rs. 2,000 and Rs. 500 currency notes have been recovered. After this, more than 20 mobile phones have been recovered from Arpita Mukherjee’s premises. In this regard, the Enforcement Directorate said, “This amount is suspected to be proceeds of WBSSC corruption”.
Apart from Chatterjee, the ED has also conducted a search on suspicion of Minister of State for Education Paresh C Adhikari, MLA Manik Bhattacharya and others. Minister Partha Chatterjee was arrested as he did not cooperate with the investigation. This caused a stir in the state. Following this, he was admitted to a private hospital due to ill health and later shifted to AIIMS.

In response to this, actor and party member Mithun Chakraborty said that “38 MLAs of Trinamool Congress are in touch with BJP”.
Due to this, Shinde’s team separated from Shiv Sena in Maratha and is now BJP. There is also a strong opinion in West Bengal that there may be a situation like government with coalition.
