Black Myth: Wukong Shatters Records with Over 2 Million Concurrent Players on Steam, Surpassing Palworld

by time news

That Black Myth: Wukong was one of the most anticipated games of the summer was something we all sensed, but its reception by the PC community has far exceeded all expectations. The game from the Chinese studio Game Science has made a strong debut on Steam, managing to break a record previously held by another phenomenon of the year, Palworld, which we thought would take years to surpass. Only a few months have passed.

The “Monkey ARPG” sets a new benchmark for single-player games

Shortly after its launch in January of this year, Palworld reached a peak of 2,101,867 simultaneous players on Steam, something that seemed unattainable for a single-player title, marking the highest number of players ever achieved by a single-player game at that time. As we mentioned, these figures seemed like they would take a long time to be surpassed, but seven months later, Black Myth: Wukong has done it, and this weekend it managed to gather 2,223,179 players, a peak that surpasses Palworld and, consequently, other titanic games like Cyberpunk 2077 and Elden Ring.

In fact, at the time of writing this, it is the most played game on Steam. This means it sits above the usual titles that lead this list, namely: Counter Strike 2, DOTA 2, and PUBG, which find it difficult to be dethroned from a podium they have almost monopolized. Indeed, its current player count is 2,183,810, a figure that, while not reaching its peak, is still astronomical.

Black Myth: Wukong is already available on PC and PS5.
