Everything’s coming up rosy for ROSÉ! Alex Cooper’s Call Her Daddy announced on Tuesday (Jan. 27) that PINK singer is set to appear in a special episode of the podcast airing the next day.

ROSÉ on Grammy Noms, from K-Pop Debut to Global Recognition

The BLACKPINK singer reflects on a career mirroring the excitement of her initial selection into the group, now culminating in three Grammy nominations.

  • ROSÉ has received three Grammy nominations for her collaboration with Bruno Mars, “APT.”
  • She is the first K-pop artist nominated in the general field categories: record of the year, song of the year, and best pop/duo performance.
  • ROSÉ compared the feeling of the nominations to the moment she was selected to join BLACKPINK.
  • The special episode of Call Her Daddy will feature interviews in various locations across Asia.

ROSÉ is experiencing a career high, and for good reason: she’s up for three Grammy Awards. The singer received nominations for record of the year, song of the year, and best pop/duo performance, all for her collaboration with Bruno Mars, “APT.” These nominations mark a historic moment, making her the first K-pop artist to be recognized in the general field categories.

“That’s a big question!” ROSÉ laughed when asked by Alex Cooper about the significance of the nominations. She then drew a parallel between this achievement and a pivotal moment early in her career.

“It feels like,I thought of this when you asked me about getting selected from YG at that open audition to fly to Korea … and it made me think,I think it’s the same feeling as this nomination,” ROSÉ shared, recalling her initial selection into BLACKPINK. She remembered never imagining she would be chosen to move to Korea and build a life there. As debuting in 2016,the quartet-which also includes JENNIE,LISA,and JISOO-has achieved a Billboard 200 No. 1 album and 10 Billboard Hot 100 hits.

What was it like for ROSÉ to be selected for BLACKPINK? She described it as a moment she never thought would happen, never believing she’d move to Korea and build a life there.

Growing up in New Zealand and Australia, the “On the Ground” singer always dreamed of living in Asia, anticipating a fun and different experience pursuing her ambitions.

“This Grammy nomination, it feels like, ‘Oh my gosh! I never thought that would be possible! Like, yes, BLACKPINK … and we’re getting so much love and I’m so grateful for that, and it’s so exciting, but that I didn’t think would be a possibility, but I feel like quite similar,” she gushed. “So it’s like the second chapter of my life, like, ‘Oh my gosh!'”

The special episode of Call her Daddy, titled “Alex Cooper Presents: A Grammy’s Special,” will feature Cooper interviewing ROSÉ in various Asian locations, including a cafe in Seoul, the singer’s recording studio, a karaoke stall, and a lounge in Tokyo. The episode is scheduled to arrive Wednesday (Jan. 28) at 5 a.m. ET.
