Secretary General of the party Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has claimed that at least 2000 BNP leaders and workers have been arrested across the country in the last few days. He said that the government is blaming BNP to divert people’s attention.

He said these things in a press conference at the BNP Chairperson’s political office in Gulshan in the capital on Wednesday (July 24) afternoon.

Mirza Fakhrul said, the central office of our party office has been closed due to the crime scene. Law and order forces have raided the office in the name of operation. We can’t work. According to my knowledge, at least 2000 activists have been arrested so far.

BNP Secretary General also alleged that the government is starting blame politics to discredit BNP for political purposes.

Mirza Fakhrul claimed that the government has carried out planned killings based on the quota reform movement and said, “We are not getting real information.” As the government has cracked down on the quota reform activists, the internet has been shut down and curfew imposed. Hundreds of people have died. So far, the government is not giving actual information about the injured and the dead. What is giving is misleading. The General Secretary of BNP also claimed that this government is not accountable to the people, so they are killing people indiscriminately.

Mirza Fakhrul criticized the Prime Minister’s statement that BNP is associated with sabotage. He said that the government has planned to divert public attention from the main problems of the country. The government did not interact with the quota reform agitators and other stakeholders who are there. If the government had talked to the stakeholders, then these situations would not have arisen. The judgment which the government has made through the court could have brought it earlier. BNP Secretary General also said that then there would not have been such violence across the country, so many lives and properties would not have been destroyed.
