Kilinochchi – One person was killed on the spot in a grenade blast in the Umayalpuram Solainagar area in Paranthan, Kilinochchi Police said.
The blast occurred at around 2.30pm today. Shivalingam Yuvaraj, 25, died on the spot.
Another was injured. One person was killed on the spot when a grenade exploded while trying to illegally collect unexploded ordnance found during the final phase of the war in the Umayalpuram Cholai Nagar area in Paranthan, Kilinochchi.
The victim’s brother Sivalingam Nilakson, 13, has been admitted to the Kilinochchi hospital with serious injuries.
Dangerous explosives have been identified in some areas around the house where the blast took place. The Kilinochchi Police are conducting investigations into the incident.
