The Balochistan Liberation Front (BLF) released video footage showing its newly formed women’s armed unit attacking a Pakistani military convoy in Turbat on September 22. Separatist groups also claimed separate clashes and attacks across Balochistan, though these casualty figures remain unverified.
Karima Armed Assault Division Targets CPEC Highway Convoy
The newly established women’s armed wing of the Karima Armed Assault Division (KAAD) carried out its first armed operation near Jusak in Turbat on September 22. Video footage released by the separatist group shows armed women fighters opening fire from close range on a three-vehicle Quick Response Force convoy traveling along the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor highway in Balochistan.
According to the BLF, a woman commander briefed the unit before the assault, which damaged several military vehicles. Major Gwahram Baloch, a BLF spokesperson, stated that the group’s Qurban unit supported the operation by engaging Pakistani personnel who attempted to surround the attackers. This assistance allowed the fighters to retreat safely, though the Qurban unit lost fighter Chakar Murad, also known as Dileep Jan, during the encounter. Separate footage also showed KAAD members checking vehicles in the Mangchar area of Kalat.
According to NewsX Digital, the unit, called the Karima Armed Assault Division (KAAD), reportedly carried out its first armed operation near Jusak in Turbat on September 22.
Activist Legacy Behind the New Unit’s Name
The newly formed division takes its name from Karima Baloch, a prominent Baloch activist and former chairperson of the Baloch Students Organisation-Azad. She was found dead in Toronto in 2020.
The emergence of KAAD reflects a broader pattern of armed activity directed at security forces and government infrastructure across the region. While the BLF claims nine military personnel were killed across its recent operations, these casualty figures have not been independently verified by outside observers or military authorities.
Simultaneous Attacks Reported in Dera Bugti and Kalat
Militant activity extended beyond the Turbat convoy ambush as other separatist factions launched strikes. The Baloch Republican Army (BRA) claimed responsibility for an assault on a Mari Energies Limited facility in Beh Loti within Dera Bugti. BRA spokesperson Sarbaz Baloch reported that fighters deployed rockets and heavy weapons, killing three company employees and injuring several others.
The BRA reported subsequent fighting involving Pakistani forces and a local armed group. According to the group’s account, nine military personnel and three members of the local armed group died in the clashes, alongside six BRA fighters.
