US Secretary of State Antony Blinken has decided to postpone his trip to the Middle East due to the unstable situation in the region.

As reported by Day.Az with reference to Gazeta.ru, this was reported by the political correspondent of the American portal Axios Barak Ravid on the social network X.

“Secretary of State Blinken has postponed his trip to the Middle East and will not travel to the region tonight (August 13) as planned due to the uncertainty of the situation,” the journalist noted, citing sources.

Blinken also called on Iran and Israel not to escalate the conflict in the Middle East. He stressed that the United States had conveyed this position to both countries.

He also added that Washington would continue to defend Israel from attacks by terrorist groups and their sponsors. However, the region must understand that further attacks could have serious consequences.

On July 31, the head of the political bureau of the Palestinian movement Hamas, Ismail Haniyeh, was liquidated in Tehran. This event was condemned by the Palestinian authorities, Iran, Russia and Turkey. Hamas and Iran blamed Israel for this, and the Iranian Foreign Ministry stated that Tel Aviv had crossed a “red line”, which gives Tehran the right to retaliatory measures.

According to CNN, the US has asked Iran not to take revenge for what happened.
