Atlanta:

The Winter Storm Monitoring Center has warned that 10 states in the southeastern United States, including Kentucky, Ohio, West Virginia and Atlanta, could be affected by the blizzard.

Traffic in the Midwest was disrupted by a fast-moving snowstorm last Friday, with several schools closed. Many schools were instructed to conduct lessons online.

More than 14 inches of snow fell at the airport in Des Moines, according to National Weather Service analyst Brad Small. He said up to a foot of snow was reported in central and southern Iowa. Weather forecasters said parts of Tennessee could receive up to 14 inches of snow.

A state of emergency has been declared in the state of Virginia. Governor Ralph Northam has urged people to take the approaching storm seriously. Stores in North Carolina sold out all the essentials, including milk and bread.

Thousands of flights have been canceled in the United States due to the snowstorm, according to the Air Traffic Survey. American Airlines announced today that flights operating from US airports, including the international airport in North Carolina, have been canceled.
