Bloomberg: the new iMac will come with an M3 chip

by time news

Apple will release a new generation of iMac desktop computer in 2023 with a new M3 chip. This is reported by Bloomberg in the Power On mailing list.

According to Mark Gurman, editor of the publication, the American company has postponed the premiere of the computer until the end of 2023 in order to skip the version with the M2 chip and immediately release the model with the latest M3 processor. At the same time, the premiere of the new chip has not yet taken place and is expected in the second half of the year.

According to Mr. Gurman, the M3 chip will be based on the latest 3nm process technology, which will provide better performance and power efficiency compared to the M2 processor, which is made on the 5nm process technology. The new processor will receive not only iMac, but also the new MacBook Air and 13-inch MacBook Pro laptops, as well as the Mac mini computer.

Recall that in January 2023, Apple introduced the flagship M2 Pro and M2 Max chips, which formed the basis of the Mac Mini computer and 14- and 16-inch MacBook Pro laptops.
