BOSTON, February 28, 2025 — France’s national football team is subtly signaling its appreciation for the United States ahead of the 2026 World Cup, and it’s all in the details of their new kit. Leaked images reveal a dark blue home jersey with a striking nod to the Statue of Liberty, a gift from France to the U.S. in 1886.

A Copper Swoosh and a Gradient Collar

The new kit aims to celebrate the co-hosting of the 2026 World Cup by the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

What’s the significance of the copper color? The oxidized copper hue of the Nike logo and swoosh directly references the iconic patina of the Statue of Liberty, symbolizing the enduring friendship between France and the United States.

The jersey, revealed by Footy Headlines, features a dark blue base with subtly incorporated darker shades in a grid pattern. This isn’t the first time the U.S. has inspired the French kit; a recently leaked away kit boasts a striking mint green color.

The design extends to a white collar, reminiscent of the one worn by the French team during the 2014 World Cup, when Didier Deschamps was at the helm. According to Footy Headlines, this updated polo collar will feature a “white gradient to navy blue at the back” with “subtle red details.”

The official reveal date for the jerseys remains unknown, but it’s expected to occur before the friendly matches scheduled for March. Didier Deschamps’ squad will travel to the United States to face Brazil on March 26 at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts, and then take on Colombia on March 29 at Northwest Stadium in Landover, Maryland.

The 2018 World Cup champions and 2022 runners-up will kick off their 2026 World Cup campaign on June 16 against Senegal, followed by a match against the winner of a yet-to-be-determined intercontinental playoff (involving Bolivia, Suriname, or Iraq), and concluding the group stage against Erling Haaland’s Norway. The 2026 World Cup is scheduled to run from June 11 to July 19, co-hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
