The Australian animated series topped Nielsen’s annual streaming charts for the second consecutive year, proving the enduring appeal of established shows.

- The creator of Bluey, Joe Brumm, is stepping away from the series but will direct a full-length movie adaptation slated for 2027.
Hold onto your hats, folks. Bluey, the charming Australian animated series, has once again captured the hearts (and streaming hours) of American audiences. Nielsen’s annual year-end streaming charts for 2025 confirm what many parents already knew: Bluey is the most-streamed show in the U.S., with a staggering 45.2 billion minutes viewed on Disney+.
Viewers are clearly finding comfort-and a lot of content-in shows they already know and love.
Stranger Things Stands Alone
Netflix’s Stranger Things was the sole original series to break into the top 10, racking up just under 40 billion minutes of viewing time. This surge in viewership was largely driven by the release of its fifth and final season in November and December. It’s worth noting that Nielsen’s 2025 calendar concluded on December 28, meaning the series finale, which dropped on New Year’s Eve, wasn’t included in the final tally.
Beyond Bluey, SpongeBob SquarePants was the only other children’s programme to land a spot in the top 10 for 2025.
What’s Next for Bluey?
In 2024, Joe Brumm, the Brisbane-based creator of Bluey, announced his intention to step back from the series. However, he will remain involved as the writer and director of a full-length Bluey movie, scheduled for release in 2027.
The season three finale of Bluey, a 28-minute special titled The Sign, premiered on April 14, 2024, followed by a shorter, aptly named surprise episode, Surprise!, the following week.
While a fourth season of the TV series hasn’t been officially announced, Bluey producer Sam Moor assured fans that the show isn’t ending. Speaking to BBC Radio 4’s Today programme, Moor stated, “It is indeed not the end for Bluey. I’m sure we have many more surprises in store for you.” A spokesperson for ABC, which originally co-commissioned the series with BBC, also confirmed at the time, “We have no plans to end the show.”
