jpnn.comMATARAM – The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) reminded all parties to be aware of the potential for forest and land fires in the West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) Province.

“Be alert for potential forest and land fires until July 27, 2024,” said Head of the Lombok Meteorological Station Zaenudin Abdul Majid (ZAM) Satria Topan Primadi in Mataram, Monday (22/7).

He explained that the analysis of the current atmospheric dynamics conditions showed weak local lability which did not support local-scale convective processes in the NTB region as well as low air humidity from the surface layer to the top.

“This condition reduces the potential for the formation of rain clouds in the near future in the NTB region,” he said.

Based on these conditions, BMKG predicts the potential for forest and land fires for the period 22 to 27 July 2024 in parts of North Lombok, West Lombok, Central Lombok, East Lombok, Sumbawa, West Sumbawa, Bima, Bima City and Dompu Regency.

“The potential for fires is from noon to evening,” he said.

Therefore, BMKG hopes that all levels will ensure infrastructure capacity by providing light fire extinguishers in office and residential buildings.

In addition, it is necessary to organize the environment by not littering and not cutting slopes or cutting down trees in an uncontrolled manner, as well as carrying out a more massive reforestation program.
