A violent incident occurred today (Friday) at the end of the game in which Bnei Yehuda was defeated 4-0 by Hapoel Petah Tikva. Golden owner Barak Abramov came out with his car outside the stadium and some fans tried to reach him when police officers who were at the scene intervened.
According to sources at the club, stones were even thrown at Abramov’s car when the owner himself felt very threatened by the very stones aimed at him. Bnei Yehuda knows that Abramov, who has already been cursed this season, attaches different importance to the current event. The incident may lead Abramov to consider continuing his path at the club.
Fans are furious at the state of the team, which not only is not currently competing for promotion to the Premier League, but has even been defeated in the playoffs opening game. Coach Nisso Avitan was also escorted by police officers as he left the stadium. Fans called on Avitan to resign and even shouted at him “rag coach”. At this stage it is not clear whether Abramov will file a complaint with the police.
There are also very difficult feelings among the players and it seems that with or without Abramov, next season the team will undergo a serious facelift. “Obviously there should be no violence, but we understand the rage of the fans,” said a player on the team, “We are embarrassing them and especially ourselves. This season has done harm to the name of each of us.”
