Due to severe floods in various parts of the country, BNP is celebrating the party’s 46th founding anniversary in a limited manner. The cost of this year’s foundation anniversary has already been donated to the relief fund set up for the flood victims.
Today Sunday (September 1) was the 46th founding anniversary of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP). On this occasion, the party announced a five-day program on August 21.
Taiful Islam Tipu, Joint Secretary of BNP, said that thousands of people have been in distress due to recent floods in some areas including some eastern districts of the country. These flood affected people are living a helpless life. BNP will hold its foundation anniversary event on a limited scale with the aim of expressing sympathy and standing by the helpless people affected by the floods.
In a press conference last Wednesday (August 25), the BNP Secretary General said that due to the flood, the 6-day program of our foundation anniversary will be reduced and only the foundation anniversary day (September 1) will be celebrated informally. According to the decision of the standing committee meeting of the party, the money that was supposed to be spent on the foundation anniversary program will be given to the relief fund.
Mirza Fakhrul said that in the meeting of the standing committee, concern has been expressed about the terrible floods in the country recently. We are helping the flood victims as much as possible. A central relief cell has also been set up. Various items including rice, pulses, oil, medicines, clothes, dry food are being distributed. 1 crore has already been given to our leaders and activists. They are helping by buying relief with them.
BNP Secretary General said, BNP will not organize colorful programs on the occasion of the anniversary celebration. Limited programs will be held. On September 1 only, wreaths will be placed at the shrine of BNP founder martyr President Ziaur Rahman in Sherebangla Nagar. The party flag will be at half mast in the party office. Apart from this, a doa and milad mahfil will be organized. Where people of the country and students will pray for the victims of the movement. Similarly, the 46th anniversary of BNP will be celebrated across the country, he said.
