Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader said that there is no movement for quota reform and general students’ movement, said that this movement has become a political tool of BNP Jamaat and is trying to gain political benefits by killing ordinary students.

He said this at a press conference at the political office of the Awami League president in Dhanmondi of the capital on Thursday (July 18).

Obaidul Quader said, “The trained cadre forces of BNP Jamaat are carrying out massive terrorist attacks and after closing various educational institutions including government universities yesterday, it is seen that instead of students and against the anti-quota movement, BNP-Jamaat has entered the field with their old fire terror.”

He said that this terrorist group has already created anarchy by using educational institutions as a safe haven. This movement is no longer an ordinary students’ movement. This movement has become a political tool of BNP-Jamaat. BNP-Jamaat and their allies are trying to gain political advantage by making corpses of ordinary students based on this movement.

At this time, the general secretary of the Awami League called upon all the supporters of the liberation war to form a united resistance to prevent chaos and anarchy in the country. He said, we cannot give anyone an opportunity to create terror violence by capitalizing on the students’ movement. Actions that compromise the safety of public life and property will not be tolerated.

Obaidul Quader said, in this context, with the aim of ensuring the life safety of ordinary students, the educational institutions have been declared closed to resolve the unrest in the educational institutions so that no mother’s chest is empty.

‘Terrorist groups have inhumanely tortured BCL leaders and activists in several institutions including Dhaka University. More than three hundred Chhatra League workers were seriously injured. Many of them are in critical condition. Apart from this, women students of Chhatra League were attacked and beaten up, attacked the hall and bribed them and also attacked journalists. Besides, several university VCs and teachers are held hostage. Vandalized and set fire to the residential hall.’

General secretary of Awami League said that there is a deep conspiracy going on by instilling different words like Razakar in the brains of the new generation and spreading the style of anti-national politics of the liberation war.

Obaidul Quader said that legal action will be taken against those who have created anarchy in the country through terrorist violence for serving evil purposes. It is our sacred responsibility to ensure the safety of the people of the country. We can say that we will not fail to fulfill our responsibilities there. The prime minister has announced the formation of a judicial investigation committee if necessary for a proper investigation of this terrorist incident.

The general secretary of the party gave organizational instructions to the leaders, activists and supporters of all levels of Awami League to play their cooperative and active role in providing security of people’s lives and property from the streets.

He said that punishment must be taken against those who have committed murder, robbery and terrorist activities. Attempts to disrupt public safety will not be waived.

Obaidul Quader said, ‘I call on all the forces of the supporters of the liberation war to form a united resistance against the evil forces who are against the spirit of the anti-independence war and are conspiring to create chaos in Bangladesh. We must unite again under the leadership of Ngabandhu’s daughter Sheikh Hasina and protect the motherland from these evil activities of evil forces.’

Blaming the media, Obaidul Quader said, ‘We have respect for the media. Constructive criticism from the media is also welcome. For the last two days, the victim was heading against the Chhatra League as an attacker. Same heading everywhere. Then the girls who were tortured, who were thrown down from the roof of a six-story building in Chittagong, and the legs of two of them were cut; Is it that one of them died? It also attacked the Chhatra League. With this brutality we hope our media will report what they see, what they will think is true, give the nation an idea so that it cannot be misled.’
