The rally of BNP organized on the occasion of Democracy Day has started. Thousands of activists have gathered in Naya Paltan, Kakrail and Fakirapool areas of the capital to participate in the rally. Leaders and activists of BNP and its affiliates and affiliated organizations from Dhaka and its surrounding districts are gathering at the rally venue with piecemeal processions.
The movement of vehicles was stopped as the activists who came to the rally took position on both sides of the road from Kakrail to Fakirapulmukhi. Massive traffic jam has also been created in the surrounding area.
On Tuesday (September 17) at 2:30 in the afternoon, the program of the rally officially started with the recitation of the Quran in front of the BNP central office in Naya Paltan of the capital. However, BNP’s cultural organization Jasas is holding a cultural program from 11 am.
Acting Chairman of BNP Tariq Rahman will address the rally virtually from London. Party General Secretary Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir will preside.
The leaders and activists of BNP, Chhatra Dal, Juba Dal, Svechchasebak Dal, Sramik Dal have already taken positions on the roads of Kakrail, Vijayanagar, Naya Paltan and Fakirapool areas to participate in the rally. They were seen wearing caps of their respective organizations and national and party flags in their hands.
On the ground, it was seen that hundreds of buses were stuck on the roads of Shantinagar, Kakrail, Nightingale Mor, Vijay Nagar and Paltan and Fakirapool areas. Passengers sitting in these vehicles are restless in the heat. Many were also seen being forced to walk to their destinations.
Meanwhile, a small number of policemen were seen taking position in the surrounding area in view of the BNP rally.
