BNP will write to the chief adviser of the interim government to withdraw all the cases against the leaders and activists of the opposition parties from 2007 to 2024 within the next week.
The decision of the Standing Committee of BNP was informed in a circular signed by the Secretary General of the party Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Tuesday (September 17) night.
This decision was taken at the meeting of the standing committee at the BNP Chairperson’s political office in Gulshan on Monday (September 16). Acting chairman of the party Tariq Rahman presided over it by joining virtually from London.
According to the circular, in the meeting, there was a detailed discussion on the withdrawal of false, absent and fabricated cases against BNP and opposition party leaders and activists from 2007 to 2024. In the meeting, it was decided to send a letter to the chief adviser of the interim government calling for the withdrawal of false, fabricated and absentee cases against BNP and opposition party leaders by this time next week. In this regard, the decision to contact all the district committees of the Lawyers Forum and the decision to prepare the list was also taken.
Incidentally, last Sunday, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said in a press conference that about 6 million leaders and workers of his party have been accused in about one and a half lakh cases.
A committee has been constituted to communicate and monitor the organizations representing trade bodies in the BNP Standing Committee meeting. National Standing Committee member Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury was formed as the convener and Abdul Awal Mintu as member secretary. The committee will maintain regular contact with organizations representing investors and traders in the industry, the notification said.
The notification also informed that the decisions made by the committee regarding the 31-point outline of state repair were presented in the meeting and a decision was taken to approve it and implement it quickly. The meeting discussed the reorganization of public administration, election commission, public service commission and anti-corruption commission. The committees formed on these issues are requested to take necessary steps very quickly.
The notification mentioned that the ongoing political situation was also discussed in detail in the meeting.
