Likud Knesset member Boaz Bismut, who is close to Netanyahu, today (Sunday) on Ynet defines Knesset member Itamar Ben Gabir’s ascents to the Temple Mount as a provocation.

Bismuth: “I said it in the clearest way. I am against. And if I am against provocations by extreme left activists, I also do not want to do provocations, I am not a follower of provocations.”

Bismuth also said that “on the other hand, one is allowed to wonder why a Jew, if he wants, cannot in 2022 pray in a holy place.”

Bismut explained that he, as “a member of the Knesset on behalf of the Likud, thinks that it is not possible that in 2022 Jews are restricted from praying in the holiest places for the Jewish people. On the other hand, I am against doing things to set the area on fire.”

Bismuth then posted a tweet on Twitter in which he wrote that “the Temple Mount is the heart of our existence and the most sacred place for the Jewish people. Period. Because of this, I support in principle the ascent to the Temple Mount, to appear before God.”

However, Bismuth made it clear that in his current position it is not true that Itamar Ben Gvir will go up to the Temple Mount: “The thought that a Jew cannot pray there is not acceptable, but ‘every time and every time for everything.’ Especially at this time of government formation. See you at Mount Itamar.”

As I recall, Ben Gabir is not the only politician who ascends the Temple Mount. Senior Likud officials have also gone up to the Temple Mount in recent years, such as Amir Ohana and Eli Cohen.
