After a case was filed against actress Yamin Haque Bobby, he filed a counter-case. In a press conference on Monday (July 1) at a restaurant in the capital, Bobby claimed that his restaurant has been taken over. The actress has alleged that Bobby’s restaurant ‘Bobster Dining’ in Gulshan has been taken over, looted, cheated, attempted murder of a business partner, assault and harassment with false cases.
In the press conference, Bobby said, I purchased a restaurant at YN Center on Road No. 113, Gulshan-2, in the hope of financial well-being while continuing to live honestly. Mirza Bashar is the operation partner in the restaurant. An agreement was made with Aman, the owner of the previous restaurant, for all the furniture (interior and other) of my restaurant at a price of Tk 55 lakh. At the same time, I discussed with Shahina Yasmin, the wife of the owner of the restaurant building (building), and Jawad Al Mamun, along with the restaurant owner. Then Shahina Yasmin and Jawad encouraged me to rent the restaurant and promised to sign a new contract in our name after handing over the running restaurant. After their commitment, we paid Aman 15 lakhs and the day after receiving the money, we signed the contract with Aman. As per the agreement, I also paid him two cheques.
Bobby has so far spent Rs 50 lakh on the decoration of his restaurant. Informing that, he said, Aman handed over the restaurant to us last April. We have been paying the restaurant rent of 2.5 lakh per month and electricity bills and other expenses since April. The owner of the building also gives the receipt with deposit of rent in our name. After going up to the restaurant we started the work of changing the decoration. It takes about 1 month. About 50 lakh rupees are spent on decoration. At this stage we started the restaurant on a trial basis and we requested the building owners Shahina Yasmin and Jawad Al Mamun to provide the necessary documents of contract, fire safety and commercial permit for trade license.
BNP leader Ghiyas Uddin Al Mamun is the owner of Bobby’s Daabi Bhavan. Referring to this information, this heroine said, when we asked for the documents for trade license, the previous owner of the restaurant, Aman, building owner Shahina Yasmin, Jawad, Jai in charge of the building, Shakib and other responsible persons started harassing us. At first, Aman denied the payment of Tk 15 lakh to him. However, he handed over the keys after accepting the cash of 15 lakhs. On the other hand, under the instructions of Shahina and Jawad, the employees in charge of the building, Jai, Saqib, Harun and their associates repeatedly cut off the power line of my restaurant and started harassing me. Meanwhile, Ghiyas Uddin Al Mamun’s business company One Group repeatedly came to the restaurant with terrorists and batons. I get scared to see such terrorist activities in places like Gulshan and try to find out who these people really are. It was then that we first came to know that Shahina Islam is the wife of BNP leader Ghiyas Uddin Al Mamun and the owner of this building is Ghiyas Uddin Al Mamun himself.
The building in which Bobby has opened the restaurant has no permit for commercial activities. Bobby said, “Seeing the danger in such a situation, we went to the City Corporation to consult what to do about the trade license and found out that the building is not allowed for any commercial activities.” For this reason, this building was sealed after a fire broke out at the restaurant on Bailey Road last February. Later, Shahina Begum resumed operations in the building with a written promise to remove commercial activities within three months.
Although the City Corporation does not have permission, several commercial establishments still exist in the building. Informing that, Bobby said, after this incident, we understand that Aman, Shahina and Jawad have committed a terrible fraud on us. Fearing that they could not save the illegal restaurant, they set a trap to withdraw money by selling it. We are caught in that trap. Despite not having any commercial permission, they have invested us around 80 lakh rupees with a written commitment of only three months and they are also taking rent from us. They thought we would not ask for any valid documents. All commercial activities are still continuing in the sealed building. Among them, three commercial establishments including two commercial shops named ‘Lavender’, ‘Basmati’ are running in the parking area (ground floor). There is a restaurant called ‘Thai Signature’ on the first floor, a restaurant called ‘Halda Valley’ on the second floor and a ‘Spa Salon’ on the fourth floor.
Bobir alleged that they are trying to evict them because they demand valid documents of the building. In this regard, he said, they keep threatening us through various means that you will not be allowed to do business in this building. Last 22 June at 11 pm we closed the restaurant and left. The next morning, June 23, when the restaurant employees went there, others, including security personnel, barred them from entering. Can’t answer why it can’t be accessed. After receiving the news, Mirza Bashar went there at around 12:30 PM, suddenly a terrorist group of 15-20 people attacked him. Bashar was found alone there and was brutally beaten and attempted murder. which has CCTV video. When I came to know about the matter, I immediately informed the police station and the police and I reached there at the same time. When we entered the restaurant in the presence of the police, we found that new locks had been installed.
Referring to the fact that the case was filed in the name of Bobby, the actress said, “When we went to file a case at the Gulshan police station, the police station suggested that Mirza Bashar should be treated first and then file a case.” Later we came to know while filing the case that they have already submitted the case complaint.
