Kang Seon-hee (47, KEPCO KPS), who made her first appearance on the Paralympic stage, won a precious bronze medal.

On the 1st (local time), Kang Sun-hee defeated Brazil’s Ivani Karadou with a combined score of 7-2 (2-0 3-0 2-0 0-2) in the Paralympic boccia women’s individual bronze medal match (sport class BC3) held at the South Paris Arena in France.

For Kang Sun-hee, who said that competing in the Paralympics was her “life goal,” a medal was a joy regardless of its color. The moment the victory was decided, Kang Sun-hee smiled brightly and came out to the center of the stadium with her playing partner Park Se-yeol and coach Im Gwang-taek to express her gratitude to the Korean fans in the stands.

Kang Sun-hee, who unfortunately lost 1-4 to Hong Kong’s Kay Ho-Yuan in the semifinals and failed to advance to the finals, said, “I had many opportunities, but I missed them all due to my own mistakes, so I feel heavy-hearted. However, since there is still the bronze medal match left, I will refresh my spirit and definitely win a medal.”

Although she narrowly missed out on advancing to the finals of her first Paralympic Games, Kang Seon-hee pulled herself together and won a bronze medal.

Kang Seon-hee scored 2 points by moving her ball closer to the target ball with her last throw in the first end.

The second end was one-sided. With Karadu having rolled the sixth ball, Kang Sun-hee was left with three balls, and calmly earned three points.

Kang Seon-hee added 2 points in the 3rd end, widening the score gap to 7-0 and deciding the match.

Kang Seon-hee will also challenge for a gold medal in the pair event with Jeong Ho-won (Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province Disabled Sports Association).
