The body of Hallan Luís Silva Ramos Ventura, aged seven, was buried this Tuesday morning (28), in a cemetery in Mesquita, in Baixada Fluminense. The boy died on Sunday (26), after fall from the fourth floor of a building in Andaraí, in the north zone of Rio.

During the burial, shaken family members asked the press not to enter the cemetery. Jessica Ramos, the boy’s mother, was carried by relatives and screamed when the body left the chapel to be buried.

On Monday (27), Jessica and other family members testified at the 20th DP (Vila Isabel) which investigates if there was abandonment of incapable that resulted in death.

The boy’s grandmother told police that she hadn’t been home since Friday (24th), but that she stopped by the apartment on Sunday morning and found Hallan and his nine-year-old brother alone. The younger brother had been taken to a godmother’s house by an older cousin. After picking up a document, the grandmother left the apartment and left the children alone.

Jessica’s nephew, identified with Luís Henrique, said that his aunt asked him to take his younger cousin to his godmother’s house and that the father of the other two would pick them up later, without informing the time. He left around 8 am and when he returned at 9:50 am, he found his grandmother with her cousins. He then took his backpack and went to work.

In her testimony, Jessica stated that she asked Luís to take her four-year-old son to her godmother’s house, but that she asked him to take the other two along and that she left money for them to go by bus and return by app transport.

Hallan’s mother also said she didn’t know her nephew would be working the next day. Still in the testimony, she stated that she sent a message to Hallan’s father to confirm that he would pick up the boy and his brother.

Around 9 am, Luís asked by message what time Stephan, the boys’ father, would arrive to pick them up, and she asked her nephew to speak directly to him. At 11:00, Jessica said that she received a message from Stephan saying that she didn’t pick up the children earlier because she had an unforeseen event, but that she would come at that time.

Jessica says she received information that her son had fallen around 12:00, via an audio message from the building manager, and that she ran out of where she was to go home.

Yesterday, when she arrived to give a statement, Jessica had her face covered and passed out before entering the police station.

The police are investigating the responsibility of Jessica and the other family members involved, including her father, in the accident.
