Devadanapatti: The body of Major Theni, who died in the Arunachal helicopter crash, will be buried with military honors today. Jayant (35) is the only son of Arumukampillai and Mallika of Jayamangalam Vausi Street near Devadanapatti, Theni district. They migrated from Jayamangalam to Madurai 25 years ago. Jayant, who completed his schooling and college in Madurai, won the Tamil Nadu level gold in shooting competition at the NCC. He joined the army as a lieutenant in 2010. Later he was promoted to the rank of major in the infantry with the medals he received.


He got married to Cella Sarathisree 5 years ago. Arumugam Pillai and Mallika couple who were in Madurai are now in Chennai. Major Jayant and his wife Cella Saradisree are based in Arunachal Pradesh. The day before yesterday, when Jayant and his fellow officers were traveling in an army helicopter, Jayant died in an unfortunate accident. Major Jayant’s body was flown to Madurai last night. From there he was taken to his hometown Jayamangalam near Devadanapatti in Theni district. The body will be cremated with military honors this evening.
