Body of Piedad Córdoba is already in Forensic Medicine and would spend the night at the headquarters north of Medellín

At the age of 69, Senator Piedad Córdoba died in her home in the Conquistadores neighborhood of Medellín, following a heart attack.

His body will spend the night at the northern headquarters of Forensic Medicine and is expected to be delivered to the San Vicente funeral home on the morning of this Sunday, January 21.

Around 5:50 pm, a Sijín car arrived with the body at the site where the autopsy will be performed to rule out other motives for death.

According to the medical report, the senator arrived at the Conquistadores Clinic around noon without vital signs, so the code blue, a resuscitation maneuver in cases of cardiac arrest, was applied. However, the senator did not respond to the procedure and she died around 12:50 pm.

The doctors also explained that Córdoba did not arrive with signs of violence or injuries. Just some kind of red patches on the skin that are common after a heart attack.

Likewise, they said that the companions did not report any health problems or recent illnesses that caused cardiac arrest. However, one of her escorts said that he had to help her bathe because she felt weak.

The senator was with her work team in a meeting the day before until 9 pm. And she was found lifeless in her room on the morning of this Saturday, January 20.

According to the official report, her daughter Natalia Castro stated that they found her “lying in the room but she was not responding. They immediately transferred her to the medical center where they confirmed death.”

Neighbors of the senator arrived at the Clinic to say goodbye. They remembered her as a “kind” person and mourned her departure.

“I come to say goodbye because she is a woman who needs to be thanked. Those who believed her or not. Goodbye Piedad and thank you for coming to do a lot for this country,” said one of her neighbors in the Conquistadores neighborhood.

For now it is known that the senator’s body will enter the autopsy room around 6 or 7 in the morning. It will then be delivered to the funeral home to begin the funeral ceremonies.
