Bogor Regency Hit by Widespread Disasters

Landslides, floods, and strong winds wreak havoc.

The Bogor Regency in Indonesia experienced a series of devastating events, with what types of disasters striking the area? The disasters included landslides, floods, and strong winds, resulting in casualties, displacement, and significant property damage.

According to the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), 49 separate incidents occurred across 48 locations in the Bogor Regency on July 5, 2025. These disasters impacted communities across 18 of the regency’s 40 sub-districts.

The disasters included 32 landslides, nine floods, two land movements, three incidents of strong winds, one search operation, and two house collapses, according to Andi Sumardi, Head of the Bogor Regency BPBD Logistics Team.

Casualties and Damage

The disasters resulted in three fatalities and one minor injury due to a landslide. A total of 449 individuals were affected, with 16 being displaced from their homes.

“The number of family heads (KK) was affected by 108 households, 449 people. The number of households fled 5 people. The house was slightly damaged by 7 units, the house was damaged by 13 units, the house was heavily damaged by 4 units. For public facilities in the form of a bridge connecting RW was damaged by 1 unit,” Andi said.

Search for Missing Person Continues

The BPBD reported that one person remains missing, believed to have been swept away by the Ciesek River after a landslide. The missing individual was reportedly fishing at the time of the incident.

“For the victims of 3 people died, (the details) 1 lives in Megamendung Village, Megamendung District and 2 people in North Tugu Village, Cisarua District. While the victims were still in the search of as many as 1 person, in Cipayung Girang Village, Megamendung District,” said BPBD Pusdalops Staff Bogor Regency Dejan Habiburrahman, Sunday (6/7).

Quick fact: The combined SAR team is actively involved in the search operation for the missing person.

M Adam Hamdani, Head of Emergency and Logistics of BPBD Bogor Regency, explained that the victim was warned about the potential danger before the landslide occurred. “The victim is fishing in the dollar alley, suddenly the fan of the fish pond behind a landslide. The victim has been warned by the fishing manager to move and the victim is ignored, until finally carried away by landslides,” Hamdani stated.
