Bogotá Implements Pico y Placa Restrictions for August 27, 2024: What Drivers Need to Know

by time news

Bogotá is preparing for a new day when the peak and plate measure will be in effect.

Throughout Tuesday, August 27, 2024, citizens who are within the capital’s territory and wish to move using a private vehicle or taxi should be aware that the peak and plate will restrict the movement of certain vehicles.

According to what is established by local authorities, the peak and plate operates taking into account both the last digit of the vehicle’s license plate and whether the calendar day is even or odd.

This is how the peak and plate will work in Bogotá for Tuesday, August 27, 2024

Considering the operation of this regulation that applies to private cars from Monday to Friday, drivers of vehicles with license plates ending in 6, 7, 8, 9, and 0 will not be able to circulate on Tuesday, August 27.

This applies during the hours from 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m., thus covering a large part of the day and contributing to the reduction of traffic congestion levels.

The rest of the vehicles will be able to circulate without any restrictions related to the peak and plate.

Drivers affected are advised to consider alternative transportation options such as using a bicycle or carpooling. Additionally, the capital has the Integrated Public Transport System (SITP) and Transmilenio available.

Remember that if caught violating the peak and plate measure, the driver will receive a financial penalty of 650,000 Colombian pesos, and the vehicle in question will be immobilized by the relevant authorities.
