Bolivia recovered commercial exchange through the the Paraguay-Paraná waterwayby exceeding US$1,000 million dollars in cargo value through this route.

During 2022, the commercial flow through this waterway experienced a growth of 91% in value and 84% in volume, according to figures from the Statistics National Institute (INE).

Soybeans and their derivatives were the goods with the highest volume exported through this route, representing 78% of the total. Soybean meal was the main product dispatched, followed by soybeans (30%). Other products that also used the Paraguay-Paraná waterway for transportation were iron ores (12% of the total exported) and urea (9%).

Bismark Rosales, the general manager of the Jennefer Port Complexreported that after two slow years due to COVID-19, in the first quarter of 2023 there has been a growth of 19 to 22% in cargo flow compared to the same period of the previous year, thanks to the conditions favorable navigability of the Paraguay-Paraná waterway.
