“Sometimes it’s almost tearful. Every piece here is soaked in stories and history. We are not allowed in the hall anymore. It’s dark in there,” the actor confided. “It reassures me that I’m living the American dream. From the Workers’ House, I will move straight to the White House,” he joked, alluding to temporary asylum.

Bolek Polívka invited the audience to his theater asylum in Židenice Bolek Polívka Theater

Until March next year, he will play in the Workers’ House in Židenice. From there, in the spring it will permanently move to the reconstructed Bakal Hall in the White House on Žerotín Square. The capacity there will be similar to Jakubské náměstí and Dělnické dům. In order for the theater to make money, it needs at least 300 seats in the auditorium.

Premiere in Brno, guest appearance in Ostrava

“Despite the circumstances, we can premiere Christopher Hampton’s Fire and Ashes based on Sándor Márai’s novella on November 18 at Dělnické dům,” Polívka is looking forward to it. At the same time, the principal calculated that during the 30 years of the ensemble’s existence, 17 author’s premieres graduated from his ensemble. “That’s a beautiful number,” he added.

At the same time, the actor revealed to Blesk.cz that he is considering writing a play for his eldest daughter Kamila. “Unlike Anička or Vladimír, we don’t have any performances together. That could change,” he dreamed With Vladimír, Bolek plays in the performance The Clown and Son, with Anička in a piece of DNA.

There is also interest in Polívk’s theater elsewhere in the country. Ostrava, for example, threw an egg at the principal. “We very much welcomed the generous collegial offer of the Mír Theater in Ostrava. We are now discussing the dates when we could host in Ostrava,” Kateřina Komárková, director of the Polívka Theater, pointed out.

The theater building was partially reconstructed already in 2019. But now it is no longer structurally suitable.
