Director Krishna DK said that actors from North India are playing villain roles in Tamil and Telugu. He said that while female actors have been able to land leading roles in South Indian cinema, men have not been so lucky. Krishna DK said these things in an interview given to Galata Plus.

“While many actors from South India have played mainstream heroes in Bollywood, the same has not been the case for the top stars of Hindi cinema. Rajinikanth, Kamal Haasan and R Madhavan have played many lead roles in Hindi films. While female actors like Taapsee Pannu and Tamannaah Bhatia have been able to land leading roles in South Indian cinema, men have not been so lucky’. Krishna DK said.

‘In Tamil and Telugu, villain roles are played by actors from North India. All the actors here, including Manoj Bajpayee, have played bad roles. Actors who venture into South cinema usually get bad guy roles. Sonu Sood and Mukul Dev are some of the actors who played villainous roles’. Krishna explained.

Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone starrer blockbuster ‘Pathan’ has collected over ₹800 crore at the global box office. In Andhra Pradesh, ‘Pathan’ collected around Rs 20 crores in its first week, while in Tamil Nadu and Kerala it collected Rs 10 crores each.
