The Brazilian Police assured that it has enough evidence to prosecute Jair Bolsonaro for falsification of vaccination certificates against Covid-19.

The Federal Police is investigating a network to “introduce false anti-covid vaccination data for the benefit of the then president, his daughter and close advisors.”

The institution targets crimes such as criminal association and introduction of false data into the public system, so now it will be up to the Attorney General’s Office to decide whether to formalize the accusation against Jair Bolsonaro.

Faced with these accusations, lawyer Fabio Wajngarten, defender of the former president of Brazil who is a recognized anti-vaccine, described them as “absurd.”

“While serving as president, (Bolsonaro) was completely exempt from presenting any type of certificate on his trips.. “This is political persecution and an attempt to weigh down the enormous political capital that has only grown,” she explained on social networks, ensuring that they want to build a case against her.

This, despite the fact that the former head of state himself acknowledged that he was never vaccinated in the midst of the pandemic.

Jair Bolsonaro was interrogated by the Federal Police in Brasilia in May of last year, while his house was raided in the context of this case.

For its part, the investigation of The Comptroller’s Office determined in early 2024 that Bolsonaro’s vaccination certificate was “false”but filed the case due to “lack of minimal elements regarding the authorship of the events.”

According to the organization, Bolsonaro’s intention was to violate the health restrictions of the United States in 2022, when he traveled with his family two days before ending his term as president, staying three months in North America.

In May 2023, his former aide-de-camp was arrested and was provisionally released after reaching an agreement to provide background information on these investigations.
