Bolsonaro has been in the United States since December 30, 2022

Former President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) requested, last Friday (27), a tourist visa to stay for another six months in the United States.

According to a publication in the British newspaper Financial Times, the request to the US embassy was issued by lawyer Felipe Alexandre, founder of AG Immigration.

The permit for tourist purposes does not allow the person to carry out paid activities in the country and now needs to be approved by the US Department of State.

The diplomatic visa that Jair Bolsonaro would have used to enter the United States on December 30 last year expired this Monday (30).

There is no confirmation on which visa the former president used to enter US territory, however, as he was still president on the date of the trip, it is likely that he used the A-1 category document.

The visa in this category is granted by the US only to international State authorities to enter the country. Holders of this type of authorization cannot be prosecuted by any US court, nor can they find employment in the country during their stay.

The validity of this visa expires 30 days after the authority leaves your public office, and this period can be used for the person to request a change in the document, in order to remain in the United States for a few more months.

On January 12, a group of 46 Democrats sent a letter to the President of the United States, Joe Biden, asking for the revocation of the visa used by Jair to enter the country.
