Former President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) asked this Wednesday, 30, the Federal Supreme Court (STF) to postpone the testimony to the Federal Police (PF) about the spread of fake news. Bolsonaro was expected this Thursday, 31, to give explanations in the investigation into coup messages from businessmen allied with his government.

Dialogues retrieved by the Federal Police show that the former president asked Joseph Meyer Nigri, founder of Tecnisa, to “spread as much as possible” false information about the electoral process.

Six Bolsonarist businessmen were initially targeted by the inquiry, but today only Nigri and Luciano Hang, owner of the Havan chain of stores, are being investigated.

Bolsonaro’s lawyers argued that only last Monday night did they get a copy of the investigation. The defense alleges that there is “no time” to analyze everything. There are more than two thousand pages.

Jewelry

The former president has another testimony scheduled this Thursday. He will be heard in the case of jewelry. It will be Bolsonaro’s fifth statement to the PF in 2023. The former president has already provided clarification on his own Saudi jewelry, fraud in covid-19 vaccination data, the coup acts on January 8 and the coup plan denounced by the Senator Marcos do Val.

The PF will also hear from former first lady Michelle Bolsonaro, lieutenant colonel Mauro César Barbosa Cid, his father, reserve army general Mauro César Lourena Cid, lawyers Fábio Wajngarten and Frederick Wassef and advisors Marcelo Câmara and Osmar Crivellati.

The testimonials will be simultaneous to avoid a combination of versions. All are mentioned in the partial investigation report sent by the PF to the Federal Supreme Court (STF) and used to justify the searches in Operation Lucas 12:2.

Bolsonaro and former first lady Michelle Bolsonaro had their tax and banking secrecy broken in the investigation. The PF wants to know if there are suspicious transactions that link the couple to the illegal sale of diplomatic gifts.
