Former President Jair Bolsonaro appeared before the Federal Police in Brasilia to testify about an alleged coup plot denounced by Senator Marcos do Val, currently on leave.

Bolsonaro confirmed that he met with Do Val, but denied having ties to the senator and having participated in the alleged plan to record Federal Supreme Court judge Alexandre de Moraes.

According to the former president, the meeting took place in December of last year, at the Palacio da Alvorada.

“Nothing was discussed [en la reunión]There was no plan in that approximately 20-minute meeting for anyone to record Magistrate Alexandre de Moraes. Why would he plot something with the senator? What was discussed at the meeting? Nothing.” Bolsonaro said at the exit of his appearance.

This was the fourth statement made by the former president to the authorities since he left the Planalto Palace.
