SÃO PAULO (Reuters) – Former president Jair Bolsonaro had new intestinal discomfort, was admitted for tests at a hospital in Brasília and was discharged, his former head of the government’s Communications Secretariat, Fabio Wajngarten, said on Wednesday.
“Pr @jairbolsonaro again presented intestinal discomfort resulting from the stabbing that occurred in 2018, he was admitted to the DF Star Hospital in Brasília, he underwent digestive traffic tests, including intestinal washing. A few moments ago he was discharged, he is doing well, he is ready, returning to his residence”, said Wajngarten, who has been publicizing the former president’s medical situation on social media.
Bolsonaro was hospitalized in Brasília last week also due to intestinal discomfort, according to a post by Wajngarten at the time. A week earlier, the former president was hospitalized in São Paulo after undergoing two surgical procedures, one to correct a hiatal hernia and the other to treat a deviated septum.
Bolsonaro is expected to undergo another surgery by the end of this year to correct his intestinal loops, as a result of the stab wound he received during an electoral campaign event in Juiz de Fora (MG), in 2018.
Since then, he has undergone at least six surgeries, some of them directly linked to the stab wound to the abdomen.
