In a statement lasting more than three hours, Bolsonaro stressed that, if Mauro Cid had devised a scheme to tamper with information on vaccination receipts, the fact would have occurred in absentia, that is, without his knowledge. However, the former president also pointed out that he does not believe in the possibility that Mauro Cid planned to enter false data in his name and that of his daughter. Bolsonaro also pointed out that the administration of his account at ConectaSUS was carried out by the then assistant, Mauro Cid.

On social media, the former Presidency Communications Secretary (Secom) and the president’s lawyer – having accompanied him during the hearing along with lawyers Daniel Tessler and Paulo Cunha Bueno -, Fabio Wajngarten, stressed that the former chief of the federal executive answered all the questions and that he reinforced that he had never been vaccinated against Covid-19. “President Bolsonaro’s testimony was conducted in a courteous and republican manner. The president reiterated that he had never been vaccinated, that he was unaware of any and all initiatives to eventually falsify, insert, tamper with his vaccination card as well as that of his daughter, ”he said. Bolsonaro’s testimony takes place within Operation Venire, which investigates the actions of an alleged criminal association. According to information from the Federal Police, the group would act to insert false data regarding vaccination against Covid-19 in the information systems of the federal government. The hearing with the former president should have taken place on May 3, however, his defense claimed not to have access to the investigation records.

This is the third statement Bolsonaro has given to police authorities this year.
