In a statement to the Federal Police this Wednesday (26), former president Jair Bolsonaro
(PL) said that he accidentally published a video in which he contests the electoral system
. The posting took place two days after the coup acts at the Três Poderes headquarters on January 8 .
Bolsonaro stayed at the corporation for about 2 hours giving testimony to the inquiry that investigates who are the masterminds of the coup invasion. The clarifications to Justice were determined by Minister Alexandre de Moraes, of the Federal Supreme Court.
“This video was posted on the president’s Facebook page when he was trying to transmit it to his WhatsApp file to watch later. By chance, precisely at that time, he was admitted to a hospital in Orlando”, said the former president’s lawyer, Paulo Cunha Bueno, who accompanied him in the deposition.
“It was done wrongly. So much so that shortly afterwards, two or three hours later, he was warned and immediately removed the post”, added Bueno.
Bolsonaro arrived shortly before 9am at the headquarters of the Federal Police in Brasília and left around 11am. In addition to Paulo Cunha, he was accompanied by lawyer Daniel Tesser and former Secretary of Social Communication, Fábio Wajngarten.
The former president was included in the inquiry into the coup acts two days after the invasion, after investigators considered that there was a link between the video posted by Bolsonaro and the vandals on January 8.
According to the Federal Public Prosecutor’s Office, the publication ‘seems to constitute a serious form of incitement, directed at all its supporters, to crimes of damage, attempted murder, and violent attempt to abolish the rule of law’.

The buildings of the National Congress, the Planalto Palace and the Federal Supreme Court (STF) were invaded by Bolsonaristas in the afternoon of January 8. They protested against Lula’s victory and the use of electronic voting machines.
About a thousand people were arrested and taken to the Federal Police jail in the capital. Some have already been released by decisions of the STF, while others are still awaiting the request for habeas corpus.
This week, the STF accused the first 100 suspects of participating in the attacks. Another 200 scammers are having their cases analyzed since yesterday (25).
