Bolt introduces ride audio recording / Day

by times news cr

Both passengers and co-drivers will now be able to start an audio recording of the journey if they feel unsafe or encounter unacceptable behavior during the journey. The audio recording can be sent along with the request to the “Bolt” customer support service.

The new audio recording feature is part of Bolt’s investment in improving security and will help Bolt’s customer support team resolve security issues faster and more efficiently, the company explains. The audio recording of the ride can only be started during an active “Bolt” ride and will be stored on the user’s device for 24 hours in an encrypted format.

The notification of the start of the audio recording will also be sent to the other person in the car – for example, if the user starts the audio recording, the driver will be notified about it, and vice versa. This feature requires the latest version of the app.

Mārcis Baķis, head of “Bolt” operations in Latvia, states that although incidents during trips are rare, “Bolt” is constantly developing the range of safety solutions available to customers and partner drivers. The ride audio feature is the latest addition to the Bolt app’s suite of safety tools that customers and partner drivers can use when they feel unsafe while driving. “Bolt” will not transfer audio recordings to third parties, such as the State Police, unless it receives a reasonable and appropriate request from them.

In order to send the audio recording file to the Bolt customer support team, you will need to attach the recording to the incident report. Also, safety features for riders include verifying the identity of partner drivers with a photo selfie during check-in and rides, as well as the ability to share real-time location with friends and family. Safety features also include an emergency help button that allows riders to contact emergency services quickly and discreetly.

Existing safety features for drivers include the ability to block partner drivers who violate the platform’s rules from the Bolt platform. Also, for security reasons, the phone number of the partner driver and the customer is masked and not revealed to the passengers. Also, if the car is stationary for a long time during an active trip, the “Bolt” security team receives a notification and contacts the partner driver to ensure his safety.

“Bolt” carpooling service is currently available in eight Latvian cities – Riga, Daugavpils, Jurmala, Ogre, Valmiera, Jelgava, Liepāja and Ventspils.

It has already been reported that “Bolt” was founded in 2013 by Markus Willig, who currently owns 16.87% of the company’s capital. “Bolt” micromobility services are available in 260 cities, 25 countries in Europe.
