BOLZANO. Big hit, in the night between August 15th and 16that the “Litalissimo” restaurant on the third floor of the Twenty shopping center, in via Galilei. The thieves allegedly entered the building on the afternoon of August 15th, when only restaurants and fast food outlets were open, and hid inside one of the premises when the center closed.
There, they would have waited patiently for the Twenty to empty completely and then, now late at night, they went into action. And apparently they had a very easy life. In fact, having entered “Litalissimo”, they not only carried out a long inspection, but also had time to make a sandwich and smoke a few cigarettes, leaving the butts on the spot, without the alarm of the smoke detection system going off. Then, after the moment of relaxation, they decided to go into action and took the cash register, the safe, electronic equipment present, other material and left with a loot that undoubtedly amounts to several thousand euros.
They left by passing by the Japanese restaurant Sushiko, taking the fire escape that leads outside, then reaching the walkway that crosses the Arginale and the Isarco and walking away in complete tranquility. And even in that case, no security alarm went off that should be activated when the panic doors open. Just like what happened a few months ago, on a Sunday evening, forcing the evacuation of the structure. The next morning, the bitter discovery for the managers of “Litalissimo” who, in addition to counting the damage suffered, also had to accept that they would not be able to reopen the restaurant.
In fact, it took them four days to replace what was stolen and restore the situation. Four days of lost earnings that are added to the damage suffered. The police immediately intervened on site and immediately acquired the images collected by the security system of the commercial structure. The goal is to give a face (and subsequently also a name) to the criminals and to reconstruct their movements. In the hours before closing, when the third floor was crowded with people, “suspicious” characters had been seen wandering around who, having come out onto the outdoor terrace of the restaurant, had stolen some cans of drinks from the refrigerators.
Caught in the act, they apologized and that was it. Certainly, if they were the perpetrators of the theft committed a few hours later, they would really have done nothing to go unnoticed.
Cops and Robbers at the Twenty
Beyond the theft from “Litalissimo”, which had already been visited by a lone thief on Christmas Eve 2022, the Twenty shopping center represents an irresistible temptation for more or less experienced shoplifters who, on a daily basis, visit all the stores inside the structure. There is no type of product that is safe. Thefts and attempted thefts are daily and, of course, there are also daily interventions by the police who intervene at the call of the center’s security personnel. A never-ending battle and those who frequent the center with a certain assiduity have undoubtedly witnessed some chases by the security personnel. “In the last three days – explains the police commissioner of Bolzano, Paolo Sartori – the agents of the Flying Squad have intervened three times. It must be said that only in one case out of about fifteen, the shoplifter manages to get away with it”.
