BOLZANOThe police have two men arrestedboth of Moroccan citizenship, after a theft occurred near Petrarca park on Saturday evening. The two in fact attacked three young people, a boy and two girls, tearing off his necklacebut were later tracked down thanks to the video made by the victims.

During the journey, the 3 young people were approached by the two who pretended to be acquaintances. The initial friendly approach quickly changed, however, revealing the true purpose of the criminals: the two began to violently and apparently for no reason push the young man. One of the two, then, grabbed him forcefully from behind and, with a sudden move, he tore off a gold necklace that the victim was wearing around his neck. This was immediately entrusted to a third accomplice, who initially remained on the sidelines, and who immediately fled in the direction of Corso Libertà.

The girls who were in the company of the victim, with great presence of mind, did not let themselves be intimidated: while one of them called the police, the other she managed to film the scene with her phoneclearly capturing the figures of the attackers.

The patrols of the “Flying Squad” of the State Police, who intervened a few moments later at the scene of the robbery, immediately began to carefully comb the park, managing to spot in the darkness, thanks to their torches, two well-known individuals, who, curled up among the branches, were pretending to be asleep.

The two, recognized without any doubt from the comparison with the videos made by the girls, were still wearing the clothes used during the robbery; one of them, however, had clumsily but uselessly tried to disguise himself by wearing his T-shirt inside out.

Taken to the offices in Largo Palatucci, the two men were identified as MO, a 36-year-old Moroccan citizen, and AAE, also a 21-year-old Moroccan citizen, both with criminal and/or police records for crimes of various nature and gravity, and both beneficiaries of international protection status.

The third accomplice, who fled with the stolen goods, was recognized and identified by viewing the videos; in this case too, he is a Moroccan citizen, reported at large to the Public Prosecutor’s Office for complicity in the same crime and is still actively sought.

The Police Chief of the Autonomous Province of Bolzano Paolo Sartori, in consideration of the seriousness of the situation encountered and the criminal record of both individuals, urged the competent Territorial Commission for Refugees to immediately revoke their international protection status in order to then proceed with their expulsion from the national territory once the debt to justice has been paid.

“The timely request for intervention by the Police made by the victim’s young friends and the quick wit with which they filmed the scene of the robbery were fundamental in identifying and arresting two criminals,” highlighted Police Chief Sartori. “The episode clearly demonstrates the importance and value of what these girls did, who, in addition to alerting the Police, personally took steps to prove what had happened. My thanks go to them, for the civic sense they showed in not hesitating to intervene to help someone who, at that moment, found himself in a dangerous situation.”
