BOLZANO. Yesterday morning, July 26, a call arrived at the Police Headquarters Operations Center, via the emergency number “112 NUE”, reporting a robbery in progress in Piazza Erbe, at the crossroads of Via Museo.

The “Flying” Squad crews of the State Police, who arrived in a few moments at the reported location, noticed a foreign citizen attacking a man on the ground. Having immediately stopped the man, the officers barely managed to get him into the service car, as he violently resisted the police, screaming and threatening everyone present.

Given the situation, the officers were forced to use pepper spray to bring the agitated man to his senses, in order to be able to take him safely to the Police Headquarters.

Once they reached the offices in Largo Palatucci, however, the foreigner once again attacked the patrol police, attempting to hit them with kicks and headbutts, but without success.

The continuation of the investigations allowed the Police to reconstruct the dynamics of what had happened shortly before: an employee of a company, engaged in some deliveries in the historic center, noticed a foreign citizen wandering near the van and ordered him to move away. The criminal, however, taking advantage of the circumstance that the hauler was leaning over the van to lift a package, attacked him, tearing off his chain and, to the victim’s reaction, biting her on the neck: everything happened in the presence of several astonished citizens who had already requested the intervention of the police.

The chain was immediately returned to the rightful owner, who filed a complaint against the robber.

At the end of the Judicial Police actions, the subject – identified for this SA, 35 year old Tunisian criminal – he was arrested for the crimes of robbery, violence and resisting a public official, and was then transferred to the local prison at the disposal of the Judicial Authorities.

Il Police Chief of the Province of Bolzano Paolo Sartoritherefore, in consideration of the gravity of what happened, has issued against this individual an expulsion order from the national territory, which will become effective once the individual is released from prison.

“Yet another attack on a citizen and a police officer during an intervention, the umpteenth, now, that has occurred in recent times in Bolzano – highlighted with regret the police commissioner Sartori -. It is unacceptable that those who represent the State, in enforcing the law, should systematically suffer insults and violence. For this reason it was decided to proceed with the arrest and removal from our country of those who have repeatedly demonstrated, even violently, that they do not respect its laws and institutions”.
