BOLZANO. Also last weekend and until this morning, ordered by order of the Chief of Police of the Province of Bolzano Paolo Sartori, specific general prevention services were carried out by operational units of the Bolzano Police Headquarters, the Polfer and the Bolzano Local Police, with the specialized support of the Crime Prevention Unit of the State Police and the military of the “Safe Roads” Operation.

The city of Bolzano, therefore, has been the scene of numerous checks carried out by over 40 women and men belonging to the police force and aimed, as in the previous phases, at preventing and combating crimes against property, drug dealing and predatory crime in general.

In particular, the officers checked the areas of Piazza Domenicani, via Alto Adige, via dei Cappuccini, Parco dei Cappuccini, via Perathoner, via Garibaldi, via Museo, the Railway Station and the surrounding streets – thanks to the effective prevention action implemented by the Polfer – as well as the streets of the historic center. In the area of Piazza Verdi and in Via Renon, two EU citizens with various criminal records were identified, without any reason to justify their presence in Bolzano. The police commissioner issued them with an equal number of mandatory expulsion orders with a ban on returning to the capital of Bolzano for the next 4 years.

During the services, special attention was paid to those areas where the presence of individuals dedicated to drug dealing is usually recorded as well as those reported for the commission of illegal activities.

Specifically, prevention and monitoring interventions were also carried out at the “Centrum” and “Twenty” shopping centres, and some abandoned buildings were inspected in Salita Sant’Osvaldo, via Grandi and via Flavon, which had already been the scene of similar police operations carried out in recent days, as well as the areas adjacent to the Laurin car park, Lungo Talvera and Lungo Isarco, reported by citizens as meeting places for homeless individualssometimes illegally present on our national territory, as well as used as a reference point for the performance of illegal activities. In this context, clear traces of the use of these places as makeshift bivouacs have also been detected. This type of checks aims to monitor these areas, in order to avoid the consolidation of critical situations for public order and safety.

Overall – including during the 7 checkpoints carried out along the roads leading into the city – 9 public establishments, 67 vehicles and 236 people were checked, of which 84 were foreigners and 103 had criminal records.

At the end of the operational activities – in which the Anti-Crime Division and the Immigration Office of the Police Headquarters also collaborated, for their respective areas of competence – the Police Chief adopted the following Provisions:

– 4 Mandatory Notice of Expulsion (from the Municipality of Bolzano) against persons with criminal and/or police records, who were found without appreciable reason and in unjustified circumstances in the municipal territory;

– 4 Oral Warnings (Preventive Measure provided for by the Anti-Mafia Code) against an equal number of Italian and foreign citizens who demonstrate a marked social dangerousness due to criminal and/or police records for crimes of various kinds, including crimes against the person, drug-related crimes, or crimes against property;

– 5 Expulsion Decrees / Removal Orders from the National Territory against the same number of non-EU citizens who, during the checks, were found to be irregular in Italy and with criminal and/or police records against them. Following the investigations carried out by the Immigration Office, the Police Chief issued against them the same number of Removal Decrees, ordering these people to leave the territory within 7 days; if they do not comply, they will be reported to the Public Prosecutor’s Office and forcibly escorted to their country of origin.

“The extraordinary operations of control and monitoring of parks and urban areas where citizens have reported the presence of annoying individuals or those intent on committing illegal activities continue systematically, as in previous weekends,” he highlighted. the police commissioner Paolo Sartori at the end of the operation –. These police operations, as well as the prevention and surveillance activities carried out on walks along the rivers and inside shopping centers and abandoned buildings, are of fundamental importance to prevent and contain those deviant phenomena and those criminal manifestations that clearly affect the safety of citizens, and to allow the removal from our territory of irregular individuals and those with multiple criminal records”.
