The Russian Federal Security Service (FSS) announced today that it had found explosive devices and electric detonators for possible terrorist attacks in packages from Germany and Italy in St. Petersburg, DPA reported.

The FSS has released a video it claims shows explosives experts removing components hidden inside shock absorbers from a German manufacturer. The security service said it had busted a car parts channel through a shipping company that delivered the packages to Russia. The agency said several arrests had been made, but did not provide details.

The records and information provided by the FSS cannot be verified by an independent source.

The investigated suspects were led by Ukraine, the agency said. She specifically accuses Roman Mashovets, deputy head of the presidential office in Kyiv, of trying to organize terrorist attacks in Russia.

According to his official biography, Mashovets is a military intelligence expert. From July 2014 he organized the provision of technical assistance to the Ukrainian army. He is also one of the founders of the Ukrainian Special Operations Forces. From 2020 is the deputy head of the office of President Volodymyr Zelensky.

From the beginning of Moscow’s invasion of Ukraine in 2022. attacks are being carried out to sabotage the Russian rail network to disrupt supplies to Russian troops in Ukraine. Prominent Russian supporters of the war and Ukrainian defectors have also been targeted. In many of the cases, the involvement of the Ukrainian secret services is obvious, and the services have also revealed that they knew about some of the actions, DPA notes.

However, claims regularly published by the FSB about alleged leaked Ukrainian plans or actions cannot be verified. Even when accompanied by videos and other evidence, they often appear staged, DPA added.

The FSS announced today that it has informed the intelligence services of other European countries and requested assistance in order to find out who are the organizers of terrorist acts and sabotage in Russia, BTA reported.

So far, the requests have not been answered, the federal office said.
