The North-South 9-Axis Expressway Promotion Council visited the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport. The North-South 9-axis Expressway Promotion Council (Chairman Park Hyun-guk, Mayor of Bonghwa-gun) visited the Sejong Government Complex (Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport) on the 22nd and met with Baek Won-guk, Second Vice Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, and proposed early construction of the North-South 9-axis Expressway.
This meeting was attended by Bonghwa-gun Mayor Park Hyeon-guk, head of the North-South 9-Axis Expressway Promotion Council, as well as heads of local governments and vice heads of four cities and counties. The meeting included a proposal to reflect the 3rd highway construction plan for the North-South 9-Axis Expressway, as well as the wishes of local residents of the council’s cities and counties. A list of petition signatures (15,814 people) was delivered.
The council’s visiting team then visited the Korea Research Institute for Human Settlements, a research institute under the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, to explain the feasibility and justification of the route, and again recommended that it be reflected in the 3rd expressway construction plan, doing its best to promote the early construction of the North-South 9-Axis Expressway.
Park Hyeon-guk, mayor of Bonghwa-gun, said, “The plan to build the North-South 9-Axis Expressway has progressed very slowly compared to the construction of other domestic transportation networks, and because of this, our council’s cities and counties have been at a great disadvantage.” He continued, “The 10 member cities and counties, including Bonghwa-gun, will do their best to expedite the construction of the highway, and through this, we hope to contribute to solving the national task of balanced national development.”
The North-South 9-Axis Expressway Promotion Council is comprised of six cities and counties in Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province (Yanggu, Inje, Hongcheon, Pyeongchang, Jeongseon, and Yeongwol) and four cities and counties in Gyeongsangbuk-do (Bonghwa, Yeongyang, Cheongsong, and Yeongcheon) and was established in July 2023. Starting with the general meeting, we are working together to build highways.
Meanwhile, Bonghwa-gun Youth Center club ‘I and We’ participated in the ‘2024 Gyeongsangbuk-do Youth Festival’ held at Seonbi World in Yeongju-si on the 19th and won the Yeongju Mayor’s Award ‘Silver Award’ in the non-performance club (experience booth) category.
This festival, held under the theme of ‘K-culture, Dreaming World’, is a festival where youth in the province gather in one place to communicate and show off the skills they have honed through club activities. A total of 21 teams (14 performing, 7 non-performing) in two categories, performance and experience, showcased various talents including band, dance, 4th industrial revolution, culture, and craft experience.
The Bonghwa-gun Youth Center club ‘Me and We’ is a team of middle and high school students in the district. They operated a ‘making my own anvil doll’ experience booth and received a lot of positive feedback, receiving good scores in technical evaluation, response, and club harmony.
Song Gap-soon, head of the Family and Youth Department (Youth Center Director), said, “I am proud of our youth who participated in the festival, showed off their infinite potential, and even won awards.” He added, “We will continue to provide generous support and efforts to help youth realize their dreams and talents to the fullest.” He said.
