Bonzi eliminates Shapovalov and joins the quarters in Mallorca

Frenchman Benjamin Bonzi defeated Shapovalov in two sets and secured his ticket to the quarter-finals in Mallorca.

Benjamin Bonzi, 56th in the world, qualified for the quarter-finals of the Mallorca grass tournament on Wednesday by dominating Canadian Denis Shapovalov (16th) 6-4, 6-1.

In the next round, the 26-year-old Frenchman will face the German Daniel Altmeier (64th).

For his part, Shapovalov has thus chained a sixth consecutive defeat: since his victory in the 8th in Rome against Rafael Nadal severely handicapped by his foot pain, the Canadian has not won a single match.
