But most of the people were deprived of booking tickets. Everyone logged in on IRCTC website before time. People booking tickets for Diwali-Chhath allege that their system was not proceeding after the payment option. It was repeatedly showing error or invalid coach ID. This continued for two minutes and after that when the payment option was moved forward, the booking was full. After the tickets in one train were full, tickets in other trains also started showing waiting/REGRET. Now people are left with the option of booking tickets only in Chhath Puja special trains. The announcement of running these trains is usually made around Chhath Puja.
Lakhs of people want to go to Bihar
Actually, the number of people going to Bihar and Purvanchal during Chhath Puja is in lakhs. In the five to six days between Diwali and Chhath Puja, only a few thousand people are lucky enough to reach their state and village via train. This time Chhath is on 7-8 November. This time people are preparing to go home for Chhath Puja from the second day of Diwali i.e. 2 November, so as soon as the train slot is opening, it is getting filled. But, despite all the restrictions, agents are still succeeding in fooling the railway system. Sources claim that agents are still succeeding in booking tickets through new software. This is the reason why some agents are still selling tickets at arbitrary prices.
What does IRCTC have to say?
Regarding this, the PRO of IRCTC says that thousands of people login simultaneously. Due to this, error or invalid coach ID can come. This can happen due to heavy traffic. Also, the officer rejected the agent’s statement, he claims that tickets cannot be booked and sold with personal ID, it is a crime. It is a violation of the Railway Act. If anyone is caught, he will be jailed. He said that we also keep an eye on personal IDs and on an average two and a half to three crore accounts are deactivated every year. Its purpose is to prevent arbitrariness. However, Northern Railway ran about 70 trips of Chhath Puja special trains last year, out of which 62 trips were reservation and 8 trips were general trips, while only 33 trips were run in 2022.
