The Girondins de Bordeaux indicated this Saturday that they wanted to replay the match against Rodez without receiving any sanction and have filed a complaint against the Ruthenian club, for “violation of the rules relating to sports ethics and fair play”.

The match disputed on June 2 between Bordeaux and Rodez during the final day of L2 was interrupted definitively in the first period after the aggression, by a supporter of the Girondins, of an RAF player, Lucas Buades, who had just open the score.

This match was decisive both for Bordeaux, engaged in a distance sprint with Metz for accession to Ligue 1, and for Rodez, in the fight with Annecy to avoid relegation. At 1-0 in favor of the visitors, Bordeaux missed accession to the elite while Rodez escaped the descent.

«As such, the club asked the Disciplinary Committee to replay the match without applying a disciplinary sanction and not to undermine the fairness of the Ligue 2 championship.“, Indicates the press release from the Girondins.

Bordeaux justifies this potential leniency by not having “experienced acts of violence in recent years, in particular due to the constant work carried out and which will continue to be carried out in conjunction with supporters’ associations“. Moreover, the Girondins, like their player Clément Michelin, maintain that Lucas Buades did not suffer “of no lesion» and that the Aveyron club did not «spontaneously cooperated with the investigators in the hours and days following the event“, which motivates their complaint.

According to them, the sole aggression of the supporter cannot have caused “the concussion invoked by the player“, which would rather result from a shock with his teammates, who came to surround him to celebrate his goal.

«During Friday evening and during the following days, the RAF teams also put forward various elements which proved to be false and contrary to sporting ethics, in particular concerning the hospitalization of the player who suffered the fall and on the impossibility of resuming the meeting when the security conditions were met“, underlines the text.

Following the emergency meeting of the Disciplinary Committee which announced that the fate of the match would be decided on June 12, the Girondins regretted that the committee did not “quickly replay the match», a solution that «would have made it possible to meet the sporting constraints of the calendar».

Several options are possible: a match to be replayed and/or a point penalty for Bordeaux, for example.
